It was over a year ago, in a conversation with a church-consulting colleague that I had one of those rare light bulb moments. An idea popped into my mind on a book angle—one I believe could tap into the imaginations of church leaders/Christians. Critiquing major ecclesial voices who are speaking for God’s kingdom, it will stir the conversation on where we should go. Since I happen to believe the church has entered a pivotal segue in its historic timeline, the structural setup of this umbrella would afford me the chance to speak plainly on many issues we are facing. When I shared a proposed title and aim of the book with a few friends, I got an overwhelming response that I should go hard after it, and do it now. So, I dove in.
It all sounds encouraging until you get into the nitty gritty writing. The nature of a project that esteems and critiques kingdom thrusts in a credible, thoughtful, and insightful way is fraught with difficulties. Picture my head on my desk. Unable to see the forest through the trees the scope has left me bogged down at times. Even with pulling back from ministry development and social media for much of the year, I have struggled to tighten the analysis down into a rough draft form. Yet, given the time, I will get there. I’m vested deep now! There’s no quitting on this one. By God’s strength and grace, I will see it through to the end, and we’ll just have to see what God wills to do with it.
A critical piece to bringing this work to the public is content editing. I have a long-term content editor friend who will do an amazing job in raising the overall sharpness and effectiveness of the book. Of course, I need to pay him appropriately. Dear friends, I am seeking support for that very cause. Please consider a one-time end-of-year gift to Soul Whisperer Ministry (tax-deductible contribution). Or mail a check: Soul Whisperer Ministry, 1651 Sutter Lane, Corona, CA 92879. I will be eternally grateful!
