Mission can be excitedly unpredictable! During a recent new believers course, God showed up in an unexpected way. Brittany, one of our new believers, knowing we would be discussing outreach, took the initiative to bring her not-yet-believing friend, Jocelyn. In this session, we introduced “the gospel key” (a method I teach on how to speak the gospel relevantly). Unveiling the concept of first discerning the needs and drives of their friends, I asked if anyone could identify a specific, pressing need in someone they knew outside the faith. To this, Jocelyn raised her hand!
She proceeded to offer up her current stress level as an example for us to consider. In the midst of the training, we had a live conversation with someone outside the faith about how a relationship with Jesus could change things for her. The group all chimed in with differing perspectives. Some were deep and meaningful! It was a cool moment. I could not have orchestrated the class better. How awesome is it to breathe the invigorating air of mission!
Jocelyn is now journeying forward with us at church, and Brittany is right beside her!
Very refreshing and rewarding to experience!
The thing I love about the key concept is how dynamic it can be. One of the early previewers of the book, told me the chapter “The Gospel Key” alone is worth the purchase price. Blessings to you Gino!
