The Story Behind Soul Whisperer

Relational evangelism isn’t the evangelism we grew up hearing about—but it’s the kind that Jesus practiced. I never planned on writing a book; I backed into it during my doctoral studies at Talbot Seminary while serving on staff at Sandals Church.

What compelled me was the anguish I felt watching earnest believers grow disillusioned with the Church’s traditional methods of outreach—approaches that often reduced evangelism to a one-size-fits-all directive: “Just go tell strangers about Jesus.”

This well-meaning strategy left many sidelined from Missio Dei—the mission of God—and aching for something more meaningful. Soul Whisperer became my response, a call to recover a Spirit-led, relational model of reaching people with the gospel.

Reframing Evangelism Around Christ’s Relational Pattern

Soul Whisperer is my attempt to redeem evangelism and re-enlist believers into God’s mission by offering a deeper, more relational approach. At the heart of this book is a simple but powerful conviction: Jesus modeled a different way to reach people.

His method was dynamic, personal, and Spirit-led. Jesus read hearts. He entered stories. He spoke with piercing precision into people’s lives. His approach wasn’t formulaic—it was transformative.
